WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: These drunk punks will be on everyone’s radar next year, so why not get them on yours ahead of time?
As we enter these final months of 2012, it’s alright to start looking at some promising new acts of 2013, right? A band that tops that list currently is Los Angeles thrashers FIDLAR. An acronym that stands for (no joke) Fuck It Dog Life’s A Risk, these four guys make alcohol soaked, feedback fueled, noisy ragers of songs. These are all things you pick up on in the two minutes of their new single “Cheap Beer”.
The amplifiers start on fire, squealing with white noise as you imagine these guys begin to just tear apart their rehearsal space. Fueled by some PBR and/or Miller High Life, a good chunk of the words are unintelligible, until you get to what will soon be everyone's favorite chorus. The deliberately hoarse declaration of "I! Drink! Cheap! Beer! So! What! Fuck! You!" is straight out of the Black Francis playbook of screaming like a wild banshee, something I believe FIDLAR will have a lot of us doing very soon. FIDLAR’s debut will album will be out sometime in 2013 via Mom+Pop, until then we’ll just have to blast this at our house parties.
