I only saw Lucero once, it was at 930 a few years ago when the opened up for Social Distortion. A friend has been raving about them for years and I was finally able to see them. My highlight was "I Fall Down", such a great tune. I think I saw Ben at the bar at Duffy's across the street before their set but I can't be too sure. :)

I saw them open up for Drive By Truckers on the the first night of their New Year's stay at 9:30 club this past December. Everybody around me was talking them up but I had never heard of them. To put it simply, they blew me away. By the end of the show they were taking requests from the audience, which were mostly calls for thier more down and out bluesy numbers. Since that night, their album Tennessee has been in constant rotation in my ipod and Starlight Diner is one of my favorite songs.

The most memorable Lucero show I saw was when they played Black Cat in DC on a Sunday night a few years ago. The crowd kept handing Ben Jameson after Jameson until at one point he just walked right off the front of the stage and sat at the bar for more. No warning, no apologies - Lucero, ladies and gentlemen.
