If you're a fan of indie music or film Devotchka is a band that needs no introduction. Headed up by front man Nick Urata and his soaring vocals, this group from Denver who got their start playing in burlesque shows found "instant" fame in 2006 when the directors of indie hit Little Miss Sunshine tapped the group to score the soundtrack to that film.
On record the quartet consistently delivers the goods, with songs like "How It Ends," "We're Leaving,", "The Clockwise Witness" - the list goes on and on. But where they really shine is live where elements of Gypsy folk, punk and even a little vaudeville all come together in an delicious stew of musicianship and entertainment that is as unique as it is exhilarating.
This Thursday the group returns to DC to perform at the Historic Sixth & I Synagogue and we've got a pair of tickets to give away so you can join us at the show and see for yourself.
There are two ways you can enter:
- Simply leave a comment below with a valid email address giving us a Mad and Faithful Telling of why you should go to the show...or.
- Tweet out or retweet the following:
"RT to enter to win 2 tix to see @devotchkamusic at @SixthandI THIS THURSDAY. @chunkyglasses #howitends #100Lovers #FREERAWKRULES"
We'll pick a winner at random at NOON WEDNESDAY so make with the entering people. And remember, if you want to beat the odds tickets are still available! GOOD LUCK!!

My love for Devotchka could not be bested by 100 Other Lovers combined. All the Sand in all the Sea is not enough to amass one tenth of a percent of my obsession for this iconic group. Their soundtrack has led me Along the Way in music discovery and passion. This, in short, is why I'm your Head Honcho.
Wow had no idea they were playing in DC. Love their stuff!!! especially last two albums! Would be super super thrilled to see them !!! It would be a true "blessing in disguise" to see them haha
I should go because when I saw them at the 930 Club, my experience was a bit soured by the obnoxious and terribly intoxicated woman behind me who kept yelling (in my ear) inappropriate things to Nick Urata and hitting me in the head.
Sorry, Charlotte - that was me.
Just Kidding! Hope to see everyone at the show, as it's going to be amazing.
